ANTONYMY

FALL WINTER 18 | 19

Complementary.

Sea and sky, light and shadow, black and white: polar opposites yet not opposing each other. Such are East and West, in between the past and the present: cultures a world apart lured towards each other by the desire of a mutual encounter.

This collection is a tribute to their union.

The graphic project is inspired by the impressions of a true journey of the senses, expressed by elements which bind and enhance contrasts such as versatile panels and two-tone profiled pockets.

Volume is centered in kimono-style sleeves oversized in a Western fashion, while trapezoids and "V" cuts convey the spirit of Oriental Minimalism.

Fabric is folded, creased and tucked into itself - crafted like origami.

Transparent printed mesh emphasizes the silhouette while thicker fabrics mold the look. A Lightweight yet structured technical fabric and the piquet, which induce a 3D effect, hint to delicately folded sheets, while silk and wool express natural fluidity. Denim, in fading tones, hallmark of the casual revolution, is transfigured by Japanese craft.

The colors, some solid and bright, some subdued and delicate, reflect the Land of the Rising Sun and recall the Japanese craft of xylography: black is ink, white is paper, ocher is the Sun and blue is the sea, melon pink and blush pink echo delicate flowers and cloud gray speaks of the sky.
